It is commonly accepted that there is need across a wide geographical range within Upper Eden. Need here at the moment is not the same high profile disaster zone that we saw with the Cockermouth floods, but instead isolated families and single cases, often in small communities spread apart. Some times elderly and increasingly victims of the welfare revisions. That does not negate the reality of the situation, we rely of health and social care professionals referrals, and would urge anyone out there who knows of a family in need to get them to approach their GP or health visitor, or indeed their local C.A.B.or social services in Penrith, and we will respond with a food parcel to a central point where needed.
